The Job at Night
A
story of a typical daughter made by a contemporary writer Joanita Male, an
African. As I read the story, I was stricken by pity to the girl. She wasn’t
named in it. Yet, her story reflects the reality in the world of
“PROSTITUTION.”
She
is a daughter of one. She didn’t even knew how it happened until she thought of
one of the things that her mother had told her. “You have to take care of your
body, you’ll never knew when to use it for a living.” Her mother taught her how
to put on her make-up, dress exceptionally and be attractive to the guys. Her
jobe every night would start at 7 then go to a motel with her customer and
after they do IT the customer hands over to her the money. She comes home and
give it to her mother. But what she can see is a shadow of regret behind every
smile. The story ended when she slept because she has a sociology test in her
university the next day.
I
think a story like this is a very light to read yet has a heavy outcome and
reaction after reading it. You will think that the girl is a very hardworking
because even thought she inherited the job of her mother but still she forge to
study. It is also said in the story that someday she’ll stop. At then I thought
mayve she’ll stop until she graduates and that would definitely change not only
her life but also with her mother’s.
She
has reasons. She loves her mother. But the thing is, does the mother ever loved
her daughter the least she can? For me, I don’t know actually. I can’t judge
the mother nor I can’t judge the daughter easily. Anyway, this story is a good
one. If you’re having a hard time with your life, don’t worry much ‘cause
you’re not alone. If you have this kind of life, think not once, not twice, not
thrice but many times. Make your choices worth it. J
